It’s hard to describe the impressive complexity of this coffee. Sweet notes of maple syrup and blackberries are complemented by something quite unique, which might be best described as white chocolate. The powerful aroma of the Laderas Del Tapia II is distinctly floral and for anyone who hasn’t delved into the world of Gesha coffees before, you’re in for something very special.
The Laderas del Tapia farm, where these lovely beans are grown, was bought by the Pelez-Jaramillo family in the early 80s. Today it consists of four smaller farms that are located in the Tapias River Canyon, a famous region belonging to the Colombian coffee landscape and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Managed by Rodrigo Pelaez today, the farm draws from a rich coffee tradition as well as a recent motivation to adapt growing methods and approaches to focus more on specialty coffees of the highest quality. In the wake of the great coffee crisis in the 2000s, this was the turning point that allowed this farm to remain a well-loved producer of coffee and one of the top farms in the whole of Colombia, with several coffee batches winning awards for their excellence.
