ORIGIN

This coffee ‘Maria Torres’ is affectionately named after the grandmother of Felix Torres, who owns the farm where this amazing coffee is produced. Over the past few years, Felix and his team at Finca Hoyo Frio in Santander have focused on improving the quality of their batches through applying themselves to all stages of production (from growing to drying) and have succeeded in achieving what we think is a truly exceptional result given the very limited financial resources available.

This, among other things, is a classic example of how real people, hard work and constant care is such an important ingredient in the growing of high quality specialty Colombian coffee.  We first visited this farm in April 2022 and were impressed by the collective hard work that the entire family put into every stage of the harvest and production process.

We always look forward to our visits to the Torres family where we know we can experience true Colombian hospitality and are proud to support them in their hopes and ambition for their coffee.

In conversations with Felix, he often describes his dream of seeing his coffee being sold directly to international coffee roasters at a fair price and getting the recognition that he and his family deserve for their hard work — an objective that we at Hermanos feel privileged to support.
