All About Yellow Fruits

Published On: October 24, 2023

How many times has someone said to you, “try this coffee, it's nothing like you've ever tasted!”, only for it to taste exactly like every other coffee you've had before?

Well, trust us when we say that this time, you won't be disappointed.

Introducing Yellow Fruits, the coffee that sold out within hours at London Coffee Festival (LCF) 2023 and received such stellar reviews that a waiting list had to be created.

Sweet and syrupy with low acidity, this coffee boasts inimitable notes of pineapple, mango, yuzu, pear liqueur and manuka honey. When brewed carefully, its sugary aroma is incredibly intense and lingers from hot to cold.

Need more convincing about how exquisite Yellow Fruits can be?

Here’s what coffee experts who’ve tried it have to say.

Celeste Wong (Olive Magazine’s Coffee Editor), is a regular of ours who compulsively purchases Yellow Fruits each time it’s back in stock. She calls it a pineapple and mango party explosion in a cup; every sip, a tropical escape. She goes on to say that Yellow Fruits offers one a ticket to an exotic coffee journey, a flavourful departure from the ordinary.

Her words, not ours!

Coffee blogger Abraham Akbareian has two words for Yellow Fruits.

Sipping. Sunshine.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!

Abraham’s into the “fun”, the “weird”, the “funky”. He wants a coffee that makes his “tastebuds do the salsa”. A coffee that has depth. One that makes him go “what in the world?!”. No prizes for guessing which coffee fits the bill.

Barista Luke Moran tore into his bag of Yellow fruits, tried it hot first, then tried it cold, then because ‘good things must share’, let everyone else around him try it.

He reports back that people loved it – with many mentioning that while they typically can’t taste flavour notes in coffee, those in Yellow Fruits were beautifully prominent.

Luke also finished his bag of beans in three days and if that doesn’t say something, we don't know what will.

Going back to Yellow Fruits’ appearance at LCF, everyone – from the general public to coffee connoisseurs to industry insiders – unanimously claimed that it is a one of a kind coffee. Selling out within two hours, we had to arrange for a special expedited shipment of it to cater to the incredible demand.

Believe us when we say that our booth was packed.

Yellow Fruits is the creation of the Bayter brothers, Elias and Shady. Finca El Vergel, where the coffee hails from, is one of the oldest single estates in the Tolima region of Colombia. Run by the brothers and their mother Martha, they are known for making use of new and innovative methods to improve the quality of their farming processes.

One such method is to use anaerobic fruit fermentation to process Yellow Fruits. This makes the coffee beans incredibly aromatic, setting them apart from others that are typically processed individually. The beans are then sun-dried on raised beds.

Intrigued yet? Yellow Fruits happens to be our bean of the month for October so learn more about it here and maybe you’ll be inspired to give it a go!
