Our Brew at Home Guide
Below is our basic guide for brewing coffee at home with beans bought from Hermanos.
FRENCH PRESS (IMMERSION) Tip: Decant the coffee immediately after brewing so it doesn’t become bitter. |
Coarse Grind Size 20g 360ml Water 5 Min (Coffee to Water Ratio = 1:18) |
V60 (DRIP) Tip: Wet the filter with hot water and pour it away before brewing. |
Medium Grind Size 22g 330ml Water 3-4 Mins (Coffee to Water Ratio = 1:15 |
CHEMEX (DRIP) Tip: When you pour your ground coffee into the filter give it a gentle shake to flatten the bed, allowing for water to spread more evenly. |
Medium-Coarse Grind Size 22g 330ml Water 4 Min (Coffee to Water Ratio = 1:15) |
ESPRESSO (PRESSURE) Tip: Give the tamper a gentle spin/turn. This will smooth, or “polish” the grounds for an even extraction. |
Fine Grind Size 19g 48ml Yield For double espresso 25 Sec |
AEROPRESS (INVERTED IMMERSION) Tip: Make sure the entire assembly of your AeroPress is dry and add more water to dilute strength as needed. |
Fine Grind Size 30g 100ml Water 1 Min (Coffee to Water Ratio = 1:3.33) |
MOKA POT (PRESSURE) Tip: Once you hear a hissing sound and the top chamber is full, take the Moka pot off the heat and serve immediately. |
Fine Grind Size 30g 375ml Water 1-2 Min (Coffee to Water Ratio = 1:12.5) |
